About This Is Harare
This Is Harare is a guide to the city for the people who live in it: where to eat and drink, where to stay, what's on this week, the websites that actually help with life admin, and the WhatsApp and Facebook groups worth being in. Right now it covers 0 places.
How places get listed
- We add them. Every listing starts with us: we visit, phone or message the place, note the hours, prices and contact details, and write the description ourselves. Nobody pays to be listed.
- Every listing is dated. "Checked 3 weeks ago" means exactly that. Anything not confirmed in 45 days goes back into our queue.
- You can correct us. Every page has a "Tell us" link. Corrections are usually live within a week.
- Ratings are moderated. We remove anything abusive, off-topic or obviously from the venue itself or a competitor.
How we make money
Two ways. Venues can pay to be Featured (a marked badge and a higher position in their suburb and type pages), and businesses can sponsor a guide, which is labelled "Presented by". Neither changes what we write, whether a place is listed, or its rating. Event ticket links may earn us a small commission. Details on the advertise page.
Groups and links
The WhatsApp and Facebook groups we list have been joined and checked by us: we know who runs them, they have rules, and they are active. We never list groups that are really someone's personal number, and we remove groups that turn into spam. Useful links are checked monthly and broken ones disappear automatically.
What we don't do
No property, cars or general classifieds. There are other sites for that, and too many scams. We stick to places, events and the information you need to get things done.
